In fairness in Canada the HID's were standard still on the 2G as well. So it would not surprise me if the removal of HID's was just a cost cutting measure as well, because they were standard on the 1G. Only slightly more than one 130 watt halogen. Im running two 7' spot (drivers) beams and two 4' flood lights, all 35 watts. Are RDX's with halogens auto levelling and if not, is there an extra part like a motor (as was the case with my 2004 touareg) that attaches to the housing to make it so (in conjunction with sensors of course)?Īcura was on a cost cutting extravaganza with the 2G RDX (mainly the removal of SH-AWD). Halogen are more fragile than HID, and it requires more current to run them for equivalent light. But I am curious about one thing, by law cars outfitted with HID's have to be auto-leveling. He simply got a 4300k HID kit and retrofitted it into his headlight. BMW i8 and new 7-series, plus certain Audi models are now using laser headlights. In this case of halogen lights, simply going with an "HID only kit" makes the most sense.Re-reading his post, that is exactly what he is saying. When driving off-road at night or even down rural roads, it becomes very apparent that the factory headlights and fog lights leave a lot to be desired, even with the high beams on. LED headlights refer to Light Emitting Diodes and these have become common fitment since they debuted in 2004, taking a fraction of the energy to run compared to HID lights or Halogen while having a much longer lifespan and giving clearer light. ![]() Glad that they realized their folly and the newer version sports LEDs as standard. You can try and compare your high and low beams if your vehicle has separate bulbs for them or switch on the fog lights along with the headlights. Usually, HIDs are close to the white color while halogens have yellow tint. Anyone buying an Acura would have easily offered a few hundred more to upgrade to HID if that was available as a stand alone option. The easiest way is to park your vehicle in front of a wall and switch on the headlights. ![]() What.? So you mean the projectors are the same for HID and halogens? I can't believe Acura did this atrocity to save a few bucks.
